First off, if you’ve read the title then no, today’s post is not sponsored, I’ve just been really loving TK Maxx lately (or TJ Maxx if you’re in America). I know there’s been a lot of controversy around them and their RRP prices being falsely hiked, I’ve always wondered this too, but that still hasn’t stopped me from picking up a bargain every now and then. Every time I go in I’m overwhelmed with the jumble of clothes and I never really know where to start looking, but since this is a makeup blog – you guessed it – I’m going straight to the makeup section. I’ve heard a lot of people online say that TK Maxx is great for brands like Too Faced, as they are an American company after all, but I had never seen anything that high end in there before. Unfortunately, the makeup section is a little untidy with a lot of broken and unusable products due to other careless customers, so you have to have a bit of spare time on your hands to wade through the broken bits to find the more valuable items. I did, however, manage to find some really great makeup products that I’m super happy with, and I’m going to share with you in today’s post!
The first time I went they had loads of intact Nyx sets, including the glitter primer and glitter sets which I got really excited about! These are £15 ($20) on the Nyx website but in TK Maxx they were only £8 ($10.50), which is nearly half the price! They had a few of the Soft Matte Lip Cream sets for half price too, but the colours were a little too wild for me so I gave them a miss.
As I said earlier, a lot of people have been saying that they’ve seen quite a lot of Too Faced products in TK Maxx for cheap, but I had never been that lucky until I checked a more secluded section of the makeup isle. My local store is laid out so that all the more affordable pieces are all put together on a table (which is probably how a lot of it gets broken), and then slightly off to the side there’s some small shelves with the more expensive products in security tagged boxes to protect them, the good stuff is usually hidden at the back. This is exactly where I found the next two products, one of which being the Too Faced Glitter Bomb Palette. I remember seeing this palette on sale on the Too Faced website on Christmas Day last year, but it was sold out completely! Even if I did manage to get it on the Too Faced website, the postage and packaging would probably be around £15 to get it shipped to the UK, so I was glad I managed to get it in TK Maxx for only £27 ($35). I know £27 still sounds like a lot, but full price this palette would have been around £40 ($53).
-Edit- After doing some research I actually found the same palette for £26 on Amazon with Prime shipping, so I could have saved myself £1! I’ll leave it linked below for those of you who do want to nab a bargain.
Anastasia Beverly Hills
I’ve never actually owned an ABH palette before because they’re so expensive and hard to get here in the UK, so when I saw that they had one of these in TK Maxx I was so surprised – and for £25 ($33) too! I got the Subculture palette which just so happened to include colours that I don’t already have, amazingly (I currently have 18 different eyeshadow palettes). This palette looks and feels like pure luxury, if you already own one then you’ll know what I mean, but these are usually around £43 ($57) which is why I’ve never bought one before.
It’s pretty safe to say I’ll be shopping in TK Maxx a lot more often to satisfy my high end beauty needs, even if I do only save a few pounds, it’s better than no saving at all! If anyone else has found any good bargains in TK Maxx lately then let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear about them! Make sure you keep up with me on here and on social media, I post all things makeup and beauty related every Friday at 6pm (GMT+1).
